15-Month Well Check
Just got back from Avery's 15-month well check appointment. She is 31" tall and weighs 24 lbs 14 oz. 75th percentile height, 50th percentile weight. She was a Holy Terror! She cried when they measured her head (19"), cried when they took her temperature, cried when he looked in her ears (no ear infection, thank God), screeched and screamed after he looked her over. I could barely hear him over her screaming. She acted ridiculous. Then she cried some more while waiting for her shots. Cried before, during and after her shots. She only got 2 shots this time; Hib B and Pneumococcal conjugate. She had her 1st lollipop after it was over. And was happy as a lark by the time we got home.

15 Months Old!
Avery is 15-months old today. Have I mentioned I want time to slow down??? She is so smart and is growing and developing so fast; I can't believe it!
Between 12-15 months, this is what she has accomplished:
Can get on and off the couch by herself
Drinks from straws
Knows where the baby is when I ask her
I don't have to carry her anymore, she can hold my hand
Loves the outdoors
No more highchair, sits in her booster seat
1 nap a day
Teething hardcore, I swear she has like 5 teeth coming in all at the same time
Screeching, wish that would stop!
Building a pretty solid vocabulary:
Hi
Bye Bye
Uh oh
What is that?
Avery (YES)
Baby
Bubba
Dog
Pup
Papa
Dada
Mama
Mimi

22 weeks!
Shane is the size of a spaghetti squash now. I had no idea what a spaghetti squash was until I looked up the picture. Wow! From a blueberry to a squash!!! He's definitely getting bigger!
"From head to foot, your fetus is about 11 inches with a weight of just under 1 pound. Just below newly formed eyebrows and beneath newly formed eyelids are more developed eyes that continue to sense light. If given the chance the fetus might even turn away from bright lights."
Shane is still moving around a lot. His kicks are continuing to get stronger...LOVE it!!! I feel great and cannot believe only 18 more weeks. Slow down time, slow down!

21 weeks
Shane is the length of a carrot now. "To stay warm the developing fetus is developing body fat and a thin layer of hair called lanugo. The fetus closely resembles a miniature version of a fully developed person, but is still able to fit in the palm of your hand."
He is still as active as ever and I love all his movements!!! He is pushing on my diaphragm or something because I'm starting to get really short of breath.

Shane is perfect!
I had a high risk ultrasound this morning due to a Choroid Plexus Cyst being found at 19-weeks. The Sonographer was amazing and explained every detail and measurement to me. And happily, Shane is still a boy! The doctor came in and she was also amazing. She did an ultrasound as well and looked at everything. She said there was no cyst. She thinks that it was probably there (which is normal) at 19 weeks and it has already resolved itself. His brain, heart, lips, nose, jaw, spine, stomach, bladder, kidneys. etc. all look perfectly healthy and normal. He weighs 14oz right now which is right on target for 21 weeks (which I will be tomorrow). I was 20 weeks 6 days today and was measuring at 21 weeks 3 days, which isn't bad at all!! Dr. Papa put my risk as very low and I will not have to have a follow up appointment! HOORAH! And my insurance was FINALLY fixed today!!! Of course I already met my deductible just from today...yikes, but I guess that's good for the rest of my pregnancy.
Here are Shane's pictures from today...

20-weeks! Officially halfway through!!!
I cannot believe I am already halfway through with this pregnancy. It's sad for me because this is my last ever pregnancy:( BUT I am happy because I love that Shane is growing and the closer I get to the "safety zone", the better I feel. It's sad that time has to be like that. Shane is kicking up a storm and moving around a lot! I LOVE it. And his kicks are getting stronger.
According to BabyCenter, Shane is the length of a banana. "This week your baby's skin will become covered with a waxy-like substance called vernix which will protect his skin from becoming scratched or chapped. Your baby is also starting to produce meconium, the result of digestion, which will accumulate in his bowels and eventually pass during delivery or in his first diaper."

19 weeks/the BIG ultrasound
Well I am officially 19 weeks pregnant today. LO is now the size of a softball or heirloom tomato. "Unique fingerprints have now formed on the tips of the fingers and tiny blood vessels are visible under the skin. The fetus is able to make more intricate facial gestures, such as frowning or smiling."
We had our ultrasound today. It was VERY scary driving there because we had a huge ice storm come through Monday night. We got there safely, thank God. Chris was not excited because he already knew it was another girl. I told him the 16-week ultrasound tech could be wrong. That didn't seem to help. We went in for our ultrasound and we were telling the tech the same thing. She said, "You'd be surprised at how many early ultrasounds I have proven wrong." Then she started looking. She said, "I'm trying very hard not to laugh". I thought the baby was doing something like mooning us. Then she showed us a very clear picture of his penis!!! We are having a BOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm still in shock, but am happy. The only thing I am sad about is the girl clothes we bought:( They were SO cute. Now we have to start all over again, not to mention our name feud has started again. I am happy that Avery will be the only girl, we will have one of each and there will be no sibling rivalry. I am just still in shock!!!
